On Tuesday, October 29, city officials gathered to commemorate the completion of Phase One of the Kansas Lane extension, which connects Old Sterlington Road to Highway 165 near Forsythe Bypass. This project, more than thirty years in the making, marks a significant milestone for the community.
Shane Cheatham from Governor Landry’s office highlighted the project’s vital role in driving economic development in North Louisiana. The Kansas Lane extension, originally projected at $14 million, is now expected to exceed $80 million and was funded through capital outlay resources. This substantial investment reflects the long-term commitment to enhancing local infrastructure.
The extension is part of a larger three-phase initiative that will ultimately span 2.5 miles from Desiard Street to Highway 165. Phase Two will connect Highway 80 to Bon Aire Drive, while Phase Three will link the first two phases, creating improved access for residents and visitors.
The newly designated Airport Expressway is scheduled to open to the public on November 6, 2024, providing a crucial connection for the community and supporting future economic growth.
